Namesday


I am half Swedish and half Finnish. When I was young, my Swedish grandma, Agnes, would send a namesday card each year to me and my 3 sisters. It would be a sweet little card that she would write "Happy Namesday" in and a quarter would be taped to the inside. Each year it seemed like it came on a different day, we never knew when to expect it. And we certainly never knew how Grandma would know what day was ours! I would feel so special that this was my day. It seemed better than a birthday (almost!). It's funny I don't remember ever asking our grandma what a "namesday" even was! I was reminded of this because of a Swedish calendar I have hanging in my kitchen. I absolutely love all of the pictures of Sweden, but had never paid attention to what was written on each day. Well....there's a name for each day of each month. If you are Amelia, Happy Namesday today! ~Kay

Making sense of the mess

Here's a "before" picture after we've unloaded our trailer for the Farm Chicks show last June. Where do you begin? It took us most of the day to arrange and rearrange our stuff, but of course we had to take time out to meet some of the other vendors and check out their great displays. And marvel........and drool......

Here are a few "after" pictures. I've noticed I need to work on my camera skills. I like close up photos better....they don't make things look so messy! (Well, my pile of stuff gets pretty messy no matter what I seem to do.) We are getting so excited for this year's show. More later, and hopefully some previews on what we'll be bringing....

Whatever is true....

"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy---think about such things." Philippians 4:8

I love saying this verse in my mind. It just lifts me up, makes everything seem better. Just push all the "garbage"......criticisms, self doubt, loneliness, low self esteem.......out of the way. I decided that I really like the word "lovely"! I like to think of the "lovely" people I know, the "lovely" places I have been, even the "lovely" times that have been had. Think about that word in your life. It makes you smile, doesn't it?! ~Kay
